On concrete or clay tile a 10 yard is the honest answer for most houses: at roughly 900 to 1,000 lb a square, ten to twelve squares is a full payload in a box that still looks a third full. A larger tile roof gets a 10 yard and a swap, not a bigger container. On asphalt shingle at about 250 lb a square, a 15 yard covers most full-house tear-offs, and a 20 yard suits a large or steep roof, or one where deck replacement looks likely.
