The Red Mountain side of north-east Mesa is our home ground. The yard is on Rosemont just off McKellips, and most of these addresses are ten minutes away, which is why a genuine same-day delivery is realistic here in a way it is not out in San Tan Valley. It is Mesa throughout — city collection, city permitting, Mesa Development Services for anything structural. North across the Salt River is a different world entirely: that is the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, sovereign tribal land with its own jurisdiction, and the Salt River Landfill sits on it.

The area takes its name from the mountain itself, and the housing is mostly 1990s with some late 1980s and early 2000s either side. Red Mountain Ranch went in as a golf community with larger lots and a mix of custom and semi-custom houses. Alta Mesa is the same era, and between and around them are conventional subdivisions off Brown, McDowell and Power. It is the classic East Valley pattern of that decade: stucco, concrete tile, two and three car drives, CMU block property walls with grout, and front and back yards in decorative granite rather than grass.

Thirty years on, that stock is in its first major refresh and it all arrived at once. Tile roofs need underlayment work whether or not the tile itself has failed. Original kitchens, hall baths and cabinetry are coming out. Pools are being resurfaced, re-decked or removed. Granite yards laid in 1994 are tired, faded and full of weed fabric that has gone brittle, so they are being scraped out and replaced. Block walls come down when a yard is reconfigured, and block is dense debris rather than fence panels. Falcon Field just to the north also gives us a steady stream of light industrial and hangar cleanout work alongside the houses.

Being this close to the yard changes what we can promise. Same-day is realistic on a Red Mountain address if you call early, and swaps on a tile roof or a rock yard can happen inside a couple of hours rather than the next morning, which matters when a crew is standing around. The city rules are Mesa’s in full. The green yard-waste barrel is opt-in and paid, $8.27 a month on a six-month minimum, and it bans fronds, oleander, cacti, rock and gravel, lumber and concrete — the exact list of what a 1990s Mesa yard produces. Bulk collection is appointment-based from $31.00 a load and refuses construction and remodelling material outright. The self-haul allowance is 2,000 pounds a month for $15 for Mesa customers, which one tile roof or one rock yard clears immediately. Placement is generally easy here: wide drives, wide streets, good setbacks. Getting a truck to you

This is the closest area we serve. Power Road north from McKellips, or Brown Road straight east from the yard, and we are on site in about ten minutes. Recker north covers the Alta Mesa side and Loop 202 Red Mountain handles anything further out. Because the run is short we can usually fit a same-day drop or a fast swap around other work, so call early rather than assuming. Before booking we still want the driveway surface and age, whether an HOA covers the street, whether the load is tile, block, rock or household, and roughly how much of it there is.

Permits, streets and placement in Red Mountain

On a private driveway in Red Mountain you generally do not need a permit at all. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter, and here the requirement follows the address rather than the county: in Mesa a street placement needs a City of Mesa Temporary Traffic Control (barricade) permit — 480-644-4882, barricade@mesaaz.gov — and Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale, Queen Creek, Paradise Valley and Apache Junction each run their own equivalent desk with their own form and lead time. Where the road is a state route, ADOT is the authority instead of the city. Sidewalks and alleys stay clear either way, and in the HOA and master-planned parts of Red Mountain the CC&Rs commonly decide where a container may sit and for how many days, so check with the association first. Two more rules reach every job we run. Dust and asbestos are handled at county level: across Maricopa County that is Maricopa County Air Quality — Rule 310 for fugitive dust, with a permit required once you disturb 0.10 acre (4,356 square feet) and loads leaving covered with at least three inches of freeboard, and Rule 370 for asbestos, which wants notification at least ten business days before any demolition or renovation and applies whether asbestos is present or not. For addresses over the line in Pinal County the asbestos programme runs through ADEQ instead.
