This is the overview page. A roll-off is an open-topped steel container built to be carried on a truck with a hydraulic hoist and a cable winch rather than lifted by forks. The truck backs in, the hoist raises the bed, and the container rolls down its own rails on the wheels at the back until it sits on the ground. Collection is the same in reverse: the cable hooks the front bar and winches the box back up the rails. Three measurements decide whether a roll-off can be delivered at all. Length first: the truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach to line up, back in and let the container roll off, and more than that for a 40 yard. Width next: about 10 and a half feet of clear running room, which rules out a drive with a block pilaster on one side and a parked car on the other. Height last, and this is the one that catches Mesa, because the hoist raises well above the truck and you need 20 feet or more of clear sky over the set point. A mature date palm canopy or a low mesquite limb over the driveway will stop a delivery that had plenty of width. Protection boards go under the rails on every set and we photograph the surface first. From May through September asphalt goes soft by mid-afternoon, so heavy boxes get set early in the day. Standard rental covers a normal job and we extend if the work runs long, provided you call before the pull date — the real constraint is usually the association, because CC&Rs across the master-planned communities out east govern where a container may sit and how many days it may stay. On an active site, swaps are the routine: full box out, empty box in, next working day when you ring before the cut-off.
